The book is about a girl named Nikki Maxwell. OMG! Nikki's birthday party is going to be beyond awesome! Her BFFs are planning a supercool pool party, with cake, a DJ and the perfect invitations. Organizing a big party for one hundred people is easy, right? ummm wrong! When my mom says it's too expensive, soon it's looking like Nikki's dream party will be a total dorky disaster-cringe! Nikki found a solution with the help of her sister, Brianna and Daisy, her puppy and they manage to save the day with Bark Bites that cost $100 each and they made $500 to make a humongous cake, a DJ and a the best birthday ever. Nikki has a nightmare that MacKenzie Hollister ruined Nikki's country club birthday party and is getting nervous to have a party. But, when she tries to explain to her best friends, Zoeysha Franklin and Chloe Garcia, that she can't have a birthday, they think she wants to have a pool party, and Chloe and Zoey get so excited that Nikki can't say no to the party. So she, Chloe, and Zoey begin to plan the party that turns out to be $250. Nikki asks her mom if she can have the party, but her mom says that she planned a 100 dollar party, which is way cheaper. Nikki dislikes her mothers “Cheap-o” ways. As she suggests things that Nikki doesn’t like. Nikki then decides she can't have the party after the cards have been mailed out to everyone. Chloe, Zoey, and Nikki sneak into the post office and try to find the invitations before it's too late, and guests think the party isn't canceled. Nikki and her friends find the cards, but bumped into a man and lost the invitations with all the mail. The next day, Nikki doesn’t find Brianna, so she went to the dog park. Brianna was selling her cookies with Oliver Crumbly. After the sales finished, all three went back to the house. Back home, while Nikki was making letters to tell the guests that the party was unfortunately canceled, Brianna offers Nikki money to make a site for her business. Nikki agrees and their site gets tons of orders. Nikki made enough money for the party to start! When she tells Chloe and Zoey, they get very happy. The party is fun, until Tiffany Davenport and Mackenzie tells Nikki's crush, Brandon Roberts, Zoey, and Chloe, that Nikki decided to go on her all-expenses-paid trip to Paris, France instead of on the Bad Boyz tour with her band, Actually, I'm Not Really Sure Yet. Then, after disappointing her friends, Nikki writes a letter to Brandon saying that she gave her trip to Paris to Chase, and will be at the concert after all. But, Nikki gets a message from Brandon saying that he got a spot in France. Then, Brandon gives Nikki another letter saying that he would find someone else to take his place. So Nikki ends up going on tour with her friends and crush. Who knows what can happen over France right?
